Ramaswamy Tripuraneni

This is from one of the most popular Telugu news papers, Andhrajyohty.

In their issue dated the 20th of November 2005, this magazine has published under the 'pramukhula santhkalu', the signature of Tripuraneni Ramaswamy, the social reformist.

It is interesting to note that the signature is in English.

I wonder what those members of the caste he was born into would say, that Ramaswamy, a true social reformist was against the petty caste system and was above these caste considerations and it was 'they' who appended the 'Chowdary' a word that he himself renounced!

I think 'they' who claim him to be a part of their community, in their over zealous and petty, narrow thinking should be ashamed of themselves. Perhaps the world knows now. Tripuraneni Ramaswamy though born into a "kamma" or "Choudary" caste did not relish being branded a 'Kamma" or 'Choudary'.

Don't you think so?

Had he wanted himself to be recognised that he is a part of the Kamma or Choudary caste, he would definitely had the previlege? All he had to do was add three more letters to his name where ever they were to appear.

Is it not a great injustice to him?

What have you to say?
